Open access and licence
The journal provides immediate open access without a reader subscription or registration barrier. Authors retain article copyright and grant the publisher a non-exclusive licence to publish, distribute, preserve and identify the version of record. The article licence is Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). It allows sharing and adaptation, including commercial reuse, subject to attribution, the licence link and indication of changes, without implying author endorsement.
Third-party material
The publication agreement distinguishes author rights, publisher permissions and third-party exclusions. Excluded material is identified in its credit line, with an explanation of how separate permission may be obtained. Permission or another lawful basis is needed for protected content; being publicly viewable does not make a work freely reusable. Website design, branding and platform copyright are separate from article copyright.
Repository deposit
Authors may deposit the submitted version, accepted manuscript and version of record in institutional or subject repositories without an embargo, subject to third-party rights and correct version labelling. Cite the final article and its DOI once assigned, retain licence and notices, and link corrections and retractions. Earlier manuscripts must not be passed off as the corrected final version.
Content mining and AI training
Mining and AI training on published content are governed by the CC BY 4.0 licence and applicable law; the journal does not promise blanket restrictions inconsistent with CC BY. Any separate commercial content arrangement will be disclosed. Unpublished manuscripts, peer reviews and confidential editorial records are not licensed for training through submission. A future licence change does not revoke rights already granted under an existing valid CC licence.
Summary for readers and authors
Articles may be read, downloaded, shared and adapted under CC BY 4.0, including for commercial purposes, with appropriate attribution, a licence link and identification of changes. No endorsement is implied. Third-party material with an exclusion credit line requires its own lawful basis for reuse. No blanket non-commercial or no-derivatives restriction is added to a CC BY article. The full licence is at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/.
